A white boarder with a baby quilt??? SERIOUSLY? Babies are MESSY. How about yellow gingham border and then applique a big yellow gingham rubber duckie in one corner.

Instead of one big border you might try two smaller ones. I would try a blue as the outer border that matches the blue in the top.

Do you embroider? I can see cute little designs in each pink block, kitten, puppy, rabbit, dolly..........Simple, coloring book figures.

My first Thoughts were to add some white too... Maybe even a applique white block in the Center of each section where all the Blue blocks meet and White border ...Hey it will wash OK... and the other ladies ideas about embroider some animals in some of the Blocks would work too... or add some Green and Yellow to the Quilt .... and the borders... still need some white though....

I like Barb in Louisiana's idea, but I'm wondering how strongly you feel about jazzing this one up as opposed to started from scratch with all fresh material. It can be hard to work on something that you find boring that someone else gave you. Do you feel obligated ? Is she in love with the quilt?

I agree. Unless I was really in love with it I wouldn't waste my time. Just because someone gives us a quilt top to finish doesn't mean we have to do it. I really want to love or at least like what I am working on. Just my opinion.

I too would applique some animals or flowers to add some sparkle Wouldn't be difficult, and would brighten it up just a bit

How about take the large rick rack that someone suggested and some big yo yo's and make some flower appliques. You could put on a green border and have the "flowers" coming from there.
