Help! Ideas needed for "don't touch the quilts" signs
#12
I think as quilters, we thrive on touch. I much prefer the shows I attend that provide gloves.. that way I can touch the quilt, pick up a corner, look at the back, and closely point out details that I like. I kind of think that a "No Touching" sign makes people want to touch it more, and you'll have to police people more strictly, whereas if you provide gloves, they'll have the option to touch or not touch.
If you really want a no touch quilt, I like the Sunbonnet Sue jailbirds, or, because The Emperor's New Groove is one of my favorite disney movies, there's always this sign.

At the show there will be members of the group wearing white gloves that will show the back of the quilt. I like the idea of giving out disposable gloves. I will have to mention that to my group. And I love the sun bonnet sue chain gang. Thanks for all the great ideas! More ideas please we have a lot of little "don't touch" quilts to make.

How do the makers of the quilts feel about 'strangers' being able to touch their quilts, even with disposable gloves on? I'd definitely get their input on that before you decide gloved visitors are okay. Also check on what the group's liability would be if they permit touching and someone's quilt is damaged as a result.

I was thinking of using this pattern. I would like to say "please don't touch the quilts" but in a funny way. Any suggestions? http://www.fonsandporter.com/article...QCANL_20131001

I'd be really upset if my quilt was being touched by attendees at a show. If it was a white-glove volunteer who had some training to not touch other things with the gloves, that would be different, but still, I'd want it limited. There is no need to be touching the quilts anyway.

I once seen the "Sunbonnet Sue chain gang" signs they were cute and got the message across well . The signs were Sunbonnet Sues in striped dresses saying that they had touched the quilts.
