I like the second sign. I think it would be cute to have just one sunbonnet sue in strips with the words above her, "Please don't touch the quilts." and then below her saying, "I did."

The shows here, now give out the disposable painters gloves as you arrive, to avoid risk of spreading bacteria/germs in the cloth gloves.

    What a great idea!

Sandygirl. when arriving at a quilt show people are so anxious to get to looking, no one would read an informational sign. I like the idea of giving out the disposable gloves and a cute sign like that Sunbonnet Sue....that's just cute.

If they're asked not to touch the quilts, they should be required to respect that request. . . or leave. Those are not their quilts and there is no reason in the world, they 'must' touch them.

Yeah, I'm also one of those moms who did not count to three, if I told my kids to stop doing something.

I think the Subonnet 'Chain Gang' gets the point across pretty well, and it's done with a sense of humor. Hopefully, people will be sensitive enough to realize that sign really does mean.. Don't Touch the QUILTS!!. Best of luck!

I love the picture of Sue in chains. That post should make your point.

My DH and I were at a car show the other week and on a car was a sign that stated " I don't touch your wife so don't you touch my car". You can turn that around to "I don't touch your husband so don't you touch my quilt".

i love touching quilts - there is something about the texture of them, looking at the stitches, esp of hand quilted quilts that seeing them up close is cool! Granted, i make sure that my hands are clean, i haven't eaten a bag of chips while walking around or just finished a messy chocolate brownie.

If you don't want people to touch the quilts, place them far enough back w/ a rope in front of them that people can't get up close enough to touch them, but can only admire from a distance. Quilts have lasted for centuries being touched, loved on and admired by many.

I don't believe quilts should be touched by the public under any circumstances..even with gloves,

No way would I ever knowingly enter a show where visitors could handle the quilts. I would hope that all shows let potential entrants know right on the entry form if there is even a remote possibility that visitors will be allowed to touch their quilts. Seems like they'd have to get a signed waiver for such a thing, or risk being sued.
