Peckish's example done in cloth did illustrate better what I was trying to convey in a drawing.

And after you study Pechish's example, go back and look at bearisgray's drawing and it will make sense also. The diagonal lines meet the joining seam line at the quarter inch seam line. Get that perfect (well almost) and you're home free.
