How do you feel about lending your tools to someone?

Funny this thread has come up again - I have recently started helping a younger coworker sew her first quilt (my first "student"!) and I find myself being extremely generous with her. I flat out gave her a sewing machine (worth about $40) and a few accessories to go with it, and she was using my tools until last week when she got her own. So far my trust has been amply justified; everything has been returned in perfect shape and she's been very careful with my things. I'm really enjoying seeing her love of quilting bloom and all her excitement as her quilt is coming along. It's helping me remember why I love it so much myself and has actually helped get me out of a bit of a slump.
Definitely glad I'm in a position to lend stuff to her to help spark the quilting obsession!

Lending tools has just caused a very bad rift in our quilting group , one said she gave them back the other said she didn't , you could cut the air with a knife it is so sad , the big lesson I learnt don't lend , my tools I paid for I use .
