I can honestly say I'm not even trying to stop buying fabric. I head to my LQS when ever there is a sale and buy only fabric that is on sale limiting myself to one yard max of any particular fabric. Maybe I can set up an Etsy shop at some point and get rid of it all.

I don't let myself go to QS. At the price of the high quality it also helps to figure out ahead of time just what your splurge will cost. That usually sends me home empty handed.

You don't - unless you stop going to any fabric store!

Please tell me I'm not alone.
I use to be the same way. Could not go into a fabric shop without spending a great deal of money. I had it to spend then, now I DON'T! We are living from paycheck to the next. Since we both retired, all we have is Social Security. So, needless to say, I am not purchasing fabric. But, you know what, I am putting all of the fabric I had stored away to good use. I gave some away and the rest I am using to make quilts of abused children. I intend to use it all.

Our quilt show was this weekend and I am proud to say that I did not buy any fabric. I also am trying to use my stash. Small victories, yes?

I will follow this thread. I retired at the end of 2007 due to mobility issues (use a walker now) . My new year's resolution was NO more fabric unless needed to finish a project. Well, yesterday I went to Joann's only to get some fabric in more solid colors to finish last years BOM for 3 granddaughters. Well, I bought fabric, probably could have done with 1/2 the amount but, hey, it was 40% off.

dmarie, I have tons of material and now, after buying a 1911 White Rotary treadle I too have the vintage bug, good thing I don't have room for any more, except maybe a 221FW. Found one made in 1946, year I was born for $100 on Carigs list last night so sent an e-mail. Looked nice. If it is still available, it was meant for me. 5 sewing machines one an embroidery (Kenmore 19000 made by Janome) and 2 surgers are more than enough. But it is adictive for sure.

Starting to pay the IRS $500/month in back taxes will do it. It'll also make you use up the food in your freezer.

I'm wondering if the quilting fairy comes in at night and tattoos "I'm weak, I'm weak" on our foreheads so the LQS sales ladies know we can be had.
