This! :D Except the most I've done is 3 to date. It depends on the centre like KLue says. But I have to say also that the more experienced I get (still not very! ) the more I see borders as an integral part of the design rather than something you just slap on at the end to git 'er done! And the IRR will encourage me even more in this I hope! :D

I agree! I used to just place a plain border on and use only one. Now I see it as one of the most important parts of the quilt, the frame, so I'm learning new techniques now and hopefully can apply them to the IRR.

It depends on the quilt. Most for family and friends have at least 2 and sometimes 3. Charity quilts, I use from 0-2. Sometimes I use a very narrow (1/2 to 1 in) black to frame a quilt then add larger boder/borders. Occassionally, I use a flange to set off the body of the quilt. I do a few with each border the same size, but most get larger as I go out. Like others have said, I let the quilt decide what it wants.

It most definitely depends on the quilt, but I seem to lean toward a narrow inner border, a really skinny second border, and a wide third border.

I did the free border class that was listed on this thread from Quilt University. It was very interesting, I learned some tricks and the gallery of quilts was really great...I recommend taking it...its free! Thanks for the link!
