How many of you learned to sew with a treadle machine?

I am getting my first treadle tomorrow or friday off of craigs list. They said it works I sure hope so, I am excited. I am a night owl and they complain about noise of my old kenmore so I am hopeing this one works and I like it. if not it is still a pretty cabnet for 100 bucks :)

Mom bought me a treadle when I was 15. I learned to sew on Her big Singer electric machine. We had a little 4 room house. It had a high pitched roof that we converted into a bedroom once us kids hit the teen years. The lights were run on an extension cord and I was forever getting the big Singer out to sew something. A family friend was cleaning out an old house and found the treadle. Mom bought it for $15. back in 1974. LOL it cost me a lot more to move my "Rose" (named for Grammie, who peiced her last quilt blocks on it) way out here from New Brunswick.

I know how to sew on one. It was my grandmother's. I have wanted one for years. Am trying to find one. One that it is pretty good shape and I can afford. One someone advertised wanted 150.00 just for the head and had been thru a fire. You could really tell from the picture they posted. It was cooked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL
