    You are NOT a bad person, and I know exactly how you feel, isn't it horrible these days, and at my age, I don't know how old you are, but I kind of get ummm a little resentful when I am asked what I used the debit card for, especially if the question is "now where is 3301 1st street where I saw a purchase for $13.12?" Now that gets me rattled so I have gotten so I don't TELL what or where I did. So no YOU ARE NOT a bad person, scared maybe, bad no!! Fabric spending, well we'll spend it somewhere won't we? Why not fabric, is that NOT better than a gambler, and believe me I was married to one, who cleaned not only my clock, but my SSDI every month too. So he is now being chased by the Devil in my humble opinion because I doubt God would put up with him.....He left the planet in a hurry with a whole lot of debt, both commercially and spiritually. You know what I mean? So don't be beating yourself up so bad, it's Christmas Season time, the season of perpetual hope, I think. OK I hope. Give yourself a piece of peacefulness....at least at this time of year.

    Well my dh gave me $50 to shop for material for my Christmas present, I couldn't help but spend $80. I always tell him, I never hold back. He understands that when I really love something I have to have it. I'm spoiled.

    You are NOT a bad person, just a little scared.

    I am trying to invise a plan, to cut and save with coupons, throw that money in my "fabric stash" fund, any money I find laying on the street, ugh trying to come up with more ideas. Last year I went to a fabric store, got out of the car and there was $2.00 dollars by my tire, so it can happen! Thinking instead of paying weight watchers, I will pay myself each week that I virtually weigh in and reward myself with that savings.New Year, good time to start.
    My dh laughs at me, he never says anything about what I spend at the fabric stores! I wish he would!!!

    I hid my fabric for quite a while. I thought I did a good job of it, but just last week, I said something to my DH, 'fessing up to the problem I have, not being able to pass up a good fabric sale. All he said was, "I know." He didn't get mad. He hadn't even asked about where the money went. He just watched as I stockpiled... And I thought I had kept it a secret. :oops:

    My sweetheart of a husband showed me a great deal of love in his acceptance of my addiction.

    I'm thinking that our spouses know more than we think they do, so I guess, at least for me, hiding the evidence is not necessary.

    Now, if I can only help my daughter see that I know what she is doing!! 8-) :lol:

    I have 3 problems with my fabric addiction;

    1.I am running out of storage space.
    2.I live within 45 minutes driving time from Mary Jo's.
    3.My DH and I will probably be moving into a retirement
    home in the near future.

    And, oh yes, I have lots of UFO's.

    too funny! my problem is so opposite...there is a shop about 50 miles away, so i dont' get there very often and when i do it is usually with my dh; well, i have learned to save and plan ahead because for some reason every time we walk in there it costs me $200-300.00...
    and not because i feel the need to have it...my husband sees collection after collection that is sooooooooo cool, gotta have it, gotta make something with this...last time we went in he said " i know you are way behind and i'm making you more work but, did you check this out? wouldn't this be cool? if you dont' get it now it'll be gone next time we get over this way"...i told him i hadn't had a chance to get to the last collection he talked me into, it is all still on the closet shelf in the bags...but, now i have more bags on the closet shelf :) i guess if i ever get to retire i will have lots to keep me busy........i never feel bad about the $20-30 i spend whenever...it takes me a long time to equal one of his trips :) and now, he is excited about an 8-shop shop hop coming up in the new year, he wants to take me on...i'm gonna need a second job again.........

    Don't feel bad all of us has this problem. I wanted to use up some material making lap quilts for Sr. citizens. What did I do yesterday ...went a bought enough to make 3 more. I have a room full of material. My favorite shop is having 25% off this week and I'm biting at the bit to get there and get my share.

    Thanks everyone..First I will tell DH and I know he will be ok with it..He was just in a bad mood..always is after Christmas...I am going to wait till bill comes in...It has just been hard for me...I had a job and had money...now since DH took another job in another town I had to quit my job..I thought our house would sale fast..I don't have my own money now and have to go to him for every penny...I hate that...I am left here all by myself during the week and quilting helps keep me busy...also I just started quilting so don't have alot of fabric...I took my credit card out of wallet so I won't be tempted anymore!
