Putting the " heavier" blocks, the bottom three, in the center up and down row would give more balance. All of your colors work well and the sashing will make a difference too. Isn't it wonderful that we all have different tastes? Your daughter will love it!

This is going to be a beautiful quilt. I think they all go through that "growing pains" stage for a while (at least they do for me!), where you don't quite like it but can't figure out why.

I really appreciate reading all the advice you've been given as it will be helpful to me too.

You've done a lovely job on it, and I can't wait to see the finished quilt! Your DIL will love it.

Your money wrench is throwing a monkey wrench into it. Looking at the bottom lay out, try swapping the monkey wrench (churn dash) out with the middle bloc on the third row. See if that helps. that is your only block that doesn't have much red in it and it is throwing it off. Otherwise, you have created a beautiful quilt!!! She will be so happy to get this one.

Many thanks to all of you. Today I appliqued a small blue square on point in the mosaic block. That pulled it together. I'm going to re-do the monkey wrench with red points and a brighter flower in center then move it to a corner. The hearts go to the center. The cross will become a pillow and I'll make a new block for its place. I'll post before and after pics when it's fixed. I will never be able to tell you how much I appreciate the help. Thank you so much!!!

I agree...this would make it more symmetrical. It really is a beautiful quilt!

Sashing the blocks will give a different look to them. The sashing will separate each block and keep the designs from fighting with each other.

She came in one day and said she really wanted it for the bed. Sooooo, I found some matching tonals, and a couple of matching florals and went for 12 blocks. She's OK with the colors. The blocks are finished, but 4 are wrong. Nothing wrong with the way they are sewn, but they don't look right on the design board. I've moved them around til I'm turning blue!! LOL I can get her to come put them in the order she wants, or I can make pillows with the three I hate (one of the four she loves) and make three new blocks that will fit.

I plan to sash with the dark red, make a smaller border with the small flowered print and a wider border in the blue if I can find it. If not, a wider dark red.

    What would you do?

If you can, please rotate this pic to the right, on my design board the heart is in the top left. I'm not good at posting pics. LOL
Are these blocks all the same size? They do look off - I would make sure your blocks are all the same size otherwise it is just not going to turn out, eh? Been there, done that - ended up making new blocks. I apologize if I am wrong, but that is how it looks on the picture. You can put the blocks wherever you please because the sashing will individualize each block and it really doesn't matter. I generally put the most important block in the center because then all the other ones can "frame" it! I love making Samplers and find that it isn't what matches with the block, it is the importance of the center block to the others - sort of like telling a story. I think it is going to be beautiful when it is done! Edie
