Never heard of such a rule. I always put the borders on in whatever order works best for cutting the fabrics. Sometimes the WOF is just right for top and bottom, so I do those first. Other times the top and bottom are just a little bit wider than WOF so I do those last.

Your Quilt your rules!!!
But if you are worried about the quilting police I live in Ohio too, I could hide you for a while. Bring your quilt and you can finish your borders. I didn't know there were border rules too.

I put out a post so we will know what they look like. So far I have gotten some good tips on what to look for & what they say to trip you up.

and the problem is... what? There are no rules in quilting. Well, there might be, but I consider them more like guidelines than actual rules. (to paraphrase Capt. Barbossa)

Whatever floats your boat, so to speak, it really doesn't matter. Rules - what rules? Whichever way you do it is fine.

Leave as is, no rule as to what border goes on first or last.
