I have yearned for a good seam ripper too. So, will try the Clover first. HOWEVER, I have found that after I take out that first stitch, I can set down my inadiquate seam ripper and pick up my THIRD FINGER. This little tool can be found in most catalogs. While it is not a seam ripper, for some reason it is great for pulling out thread. It's very strong and can pull out lots and lots of stitches without breaking the thread. I love mine.

The seam ripper that came with my Bernina is the best. I've tried others and always go back to the Bernina

I so agree...Fons and Porter's seam ripper....beats any of the other ones...and I've bought my share of them!! LOL

X-acto knife. Basicly a scalpal but has more of a point instead of a curve. Just be sure that anyone with little kids around keep these types well out of reach !

I use a combicut, it has a ripper on one end and tweezers on the other, the blade is real slim and it is one of the bes I have found

This my pick as well. I like being able to replace the blade. Also someone pointed out the blades can be sharpened--I use my kitchen steel to sharpen mine.

When I was in a full arm cast I learned to use a razor blade and use the cast to hold down the fabric - I can whiz through seam ripping so fast it is ridiculous - Now, I use the side of one hand to hold down the fabric and the index finger and thumb to hold the seam up - the other hand holds the sharp blade and just whispers over the thread - inches go fast.... I was bored and desperate for quilting!! Now I get the quilters's stuff to do at all the meetings and just tonight took 50 blocks apart for a neighbor in less than an hour!
