I agree the large creamy print gets washed, needs a small print blue there. Love the old fashion look.

I would go with fewer florals, more contrast as someone else said, maybe also a big floral with a small one, but just not as many as you have.
Great job on your new Centennial!! hee hee I remember :D
Actually, after doing a bit of research I realize it's a 1953, so it isn't a Centennial. But I love her all the same.

I really appreciate all your honesty - Kas asked how I really felt about it, and I don't really feel it "works". I like the pattern, though, but am going to rethink the fabrics. No sense "wasting" fabrics or energy doing a bunch of blocks and then not being happy with the result. I think I was mainly trying to see how this block went together. So now I'll finetune it, and pick some different fabrics. Thanks SO much for all your suggestions re. value, contrast, etc. It really helps. DH just says he's not fussy about it, but can't pinpoint what could be improved. I knew I could count on my quilting pals to help me out! BTW Tryphena Louisa, my FW did an awesome job with the piecing!!!

I agree, not enough contrast in some of the sides

The busyness is okay, but you need more contrast. See how the darker blue & pink stand out? you need two like that opposite each other & it will be fine.

I love it! Maybe go with a darker fabric on every other point.
Or if going for subtle, alternate the large and small scale prints :D:D:D

Hard to see the pattern...more contrast needed...I love your fabrics individually and even together in a different pattern. Good quilting

I agree with most of the above, that you need to alternate the busy with non busy, but the block is great and I want to see the final results. So glad that your little FW is doing a wonderful job.

Make a copy on a black and white copier and you'll be amazed at how the contrast (or lack thereof) will show. I think you did a really good job but some of the fabric seem to need a bit more contrast.

She is right. Lovely square but more contrast needed against background fabric.

use print a print that looks like a solid. for texture and I would move the mauve opposite the dark blue give more contrast. jusst my opinion.
