Your quilt, your rules. Suggest that you put them in different rows and different columns - never next to each other.

Also, if you can make some of them more boy than girl I spy, the boys will appreciate it. I make quilts for a local charity organization and they constantly tell me they need more 'boy' quilts. We quilters seem to have stashes that are full of 'girl' fabrics, not so much 'boy' fabrics. We sew from our stashes, so 'girl' quilts outnumber boy quilts.

Having said that, all the quilts do find children to love them, so use what you have with confidence.

Have fun. The kids will love them.

I haven't thought to make I spy quilts for the kids I donate quilts to. Just don't remember to.

I do have more quilts for girls than for boys. I use out of my stash and I bought/buy girly fabrics because that is what I like. I try to use more boy colors and make some of those. My Daughter also makes and donates quilts and she leans toward boy quilts. So I guess it almost evens out. She doesn't make near as many as I do.

I don't see any reason you couldn't. Different parts of fabrics tend to look different anyway.

I never thought of putting a label on the quilt with that written on it. That is such a grest idea, Thanks so much for the idea. I think some of the kids I give these quilt to don't even know what a I spy quilt is.. I had to tell the lady i give the quilt to so she could tell the child..

Sure, kids can count how many of the same fabric is in their quilt. Should help them with their math skills.
