If it really bugs you, simply add more berries and leaves. I know I have gotten fusible glue accidently on the front of a quilt and I never have managed to get it off. It leaves a shiny spot. So I wouldn't try to remove it.

I agree... it looks great there. IF you need to "fix" it to balance out the rest of the top edge, I would just add more leaves and berries. I too think that if you try to remove the fusible, it will just make it more evident. I truly LOVE it!!! It is beautiful!

I agree add some more leaves and berries. Would probaby be easier to add than to subtract.

I like them just where they are. I don't think the holly would be so easy to see if they were on (or partially on) a green background. If you want to you could add some additional applique to the border if you want to balance it out...but I wouldn't remove the ones already done.

I'm with the 'add more leaves and berries' brigade.
I had to go and get the magazine to see where it was 'wrong', and in fact I think that if I decide to do this pattern I will probably add the leaves and berries to the top baubles and sashing on purpose - the top baubles in the picture look strange to me just hanging in mid-air!! The other baubles are all 'hanging' on something, so I say add your improvement!!

I added in the link here as honestly I had to go back and forth a few times before I could figure out what you meant. It's a cute pattern.

i looked at the mccall's picture and i see why it would drive you insane - there's all that white between the images and the border! i like your addition idea...it won't seem odd or like a mistake once you do that.
but i am so sorry that you have to take out hand quilting. there's a rule in my house...never ever take out hand stitching (except when you have to and then you are allowed to cry cry cry.)

This is exactly what I'd do. You'll feel better, and the resultant quilt will be even more gorgeous than originally planned. Good job, the quilt looks beautiful!
