You might be amused by this:
Benartex spun off a new design division last year. They called it "Canvas". As in, you start with a blank canvas...
But apparently they had a hard time selling their Canvas fabric because... people thought it was canvas!
So they re-spelled the name, and now call it "Kanvas".
Names truly *can* be importanta!

I like to look at the fabrics, so I'm visual. But price also plays into my selection, so I always look at the discounted or discontinued fabrics first. Fabric names don't count for me unless I am looking for something specific.

The site has to have a way to select a color, for instance a particular pink and then find all the floral with that pink or a way to select fabric by the subject matter. I'm only looking for fabric with roses now. If I can't search by those two methods I won't try that online store again.Unless I'm comparison shopping to see if I can find the exact fabric a dollar or two cheaper somewhere I never use names.

I like to look at everything just like in the store. I do start with the least expensive and sale fabrics where that search/sort is possible. I purchase most of my fabrics for charity work so it needs to be easy on the budget.

Yes, the name is what I see first. It tells me if I'm on the right track. I'm not one for animals or kids prints, so names help me. Like "Strawberry Fields" is exactly what I wanted and so I bought all the FQs. But sometimes I am fooled by the name, so I always check out the fabric.
