Think of the price of postage if you don't finish it. That would motivate me. You really want to see the recipient's face when she opens it.

I made a crochet blanket for a baby and by the time the shower came I did not have it finished. I wrapped it up in a box and gave it to her anyway with a note that said hope you like it but I need to take it back to get it finished. She thought this was very nice to do. You can always mail it back to her when it is finished.
