Default First Post...Machine Question

This is my very first post and I have a machine question...I currently have a Janome Classmate S750. I am looking at purchasing a quilting/embroidery machine. What machine would you recommend for a brand new quilter? I need something that is user friendly and easy to learn! Thanks.

You will get as many reccommendations as there are people on this board.

You need to decide these thungs
How much do you have to spend? Machines range from uner $100 to close to $10,000.
What features are your ust-haves?
What dealers are in your area?
New or used?

And even after you answer allthese questions you will get a ton of different opinions.

Welcome. If you have friends with different machines maybe you could ask to try their's out to get a feel for what brand, features you like. If you have a dealer nearb you ask for their advice and try all the brands they sell. They might take your old machine as a trade in if you want to sell it. Some dealers also have used machines for sale that have been taken in on upgrades.I would not buy the least expensive model of the brand you are interested in and I would suggest not buying from Walmart or Joannes type stores or from ebay . If you buy from a dealer they often have free classes to help you learn about your machine. good luck with your decision.

Really it depends on your budget of what you are willing to spend. I just bought the dreamweaver and traded in my espire and got a good deal, but even with that it was still a pretty penny like someone said you can get anywhere for 400-12,0000, if you want decent hoop size in a combo you are looking at at least 2000 brand new unless you find a good used machine from your dealer. If you are looking for user friendly, brothers are probably the best way to go, there manuals are better written and they have less complications than some of the other brands. My dealer sells brothers, babylocks, pfaffs, and berninas and they get less problems from the brother customer because the circuitry on the others he says is more complicated. Dealer support is the best way to go. Just make sure you take your time and do your research because there are pros and cons to all machines, and its a large purchase so You have to make sure you are comfortable with your choice and your dealer

Welcome to the board. I am sure you will get a board range of good advice. Just wanted to welcome you to the board. You might also want to research past threads regarding machines and recommendations. That will keep you pretty busy. Beth

There were two questions that settled these issues for me. First was, Do you want to be able to embroider Disney designs? Answer: Brother has the contract on Disney characters. Second was, how much do you want to spend? Of course I spent much more than I should have, but am Very Happy with my decision. Brother Duetta 4500D.
Good luck with your choice!

Thank you all for the welcome and comments. We have a couple of dealers in the Little Rock area, so I'll have to check them out! I have a lot of researching to do, but I'm in no hurry so that works to my advantage!
