Yes, the sales item was online at $24.98 (original price $32.98)..and the item was not in the currrent catalog at all. I wasn't expecting any discount based on the catalog just the price that was and still is stated on the website....During ordering, it asked for the source code from the catalog if I had one, which I did....so I typed it in.....not expecting any kind of discount from the catalog. Just thought/assumed they were using it for marketing purposes.
What I didn't get was the ORIGINAL discounted price/online price.....which is what I was expecting to pay. Instead I got the original non-discounted price online.
But it seems by putting in the source code, I wiped out any sales code that was already on the item on the internet.....
I've looked all over their site and don't see anything that states this, so I don't think it was because I was not paying attention.
I will order again from them, but will be very careful and not put in a source code unless I am using a very specific discount from that catalog only.

Lovspaper, I hear your frustration but every business is different in how they word and promote their websites. We cannot assume that they all use the same formats/directions when ordering. When in doubt it is easy to make a quick phone call to the business and ask questions. An example is a clothing business I order from....their catalogue prices are different than when I order from the internet....why I don't know but that's how they do it. It is truly not convenient for the customer and one would think they would be consistent in their pricing and the way they do business. These places have been in business for a very long time and it works for them. We just have to be savy shoppers and be on top of things all the time. It drives us crazy but I have learned it's so much easier to make that phone call to verify prices and know exactly what I will have to pay. When I'm not happy with the shipping costs and prefer another way I always call them and see if they will do it the way I prefer. Nine times out of ten they will accomodate me.
Hancocks of Paducah is a quilters dream and in my experience will go out of their way to please their customers. As evidenced by you getting your money back. Yes, it can be a pain in the **** at times but we have to be proactive. I just avoid the frustrations by calling first to make sure I am getting what I think I'm getting and paying the shipping costs I feel are fair. When I'm not sure if they have the fabrics I want I also call to verify that it is in stock. Also, when the Quilt Shows are going on they are so busy and I've found it takes a bit longer to receive my order because of all that is going on in Paducah.

What's funny is that I DID call first to check to see what the fabrics were because the pic of the set of fabrics on the website was regular plus batiks and the description just said batiks. In that call, I DID check the website price because it was a great price for what I was ordering.
I never even saw these fabrics in the catalog! I just got a catalog a while back and when I got the the checkout and it asked for a source code, I realized I had one, so I went and got it and put it in.
This is just a heads up for others who order from them. And yes, I would order from them again BECAUSE they did refund the difference. But being in a computer systems profession, this whole scenario is very odd to me. That the price I saw online and ordered online ended up reverting to an older price from a catalog the product wasnt' even in! I just hope to save another shopper the same confusion!

I wonder if putting the catalog source code in made the system default from the sales pricing to regular. Maybe the catalog code indicated to the system that you hadn't come to the site to make the purchase via internet shopping, which would have given you the internet price.
Still a glitch in the system, and it shouldn't have changed the price without some kind of warning to you or to them, but at least they did right and refunded the difference.

Each place I order from is so different so I am always paying attention, especially when the final sales page and prices come up. The catalog numbers are good if there is pricing in that catalog you want. WILl have to keep this in mind when other sales are online too. Thanks for the heads up. More to keep up with. Quilters have to be so alert in everything we do. ♥♥3
