A bargello, with their picture in the center.

The double wedding ring is a great idea. I just saw pics of a quilt made for Stonewall that was tumbling blocks in brights on a black background. It was striking.

How about a twisted bargello, in rainbow colors? THAT would look smashing!

I think a double wedding ring in rainbow colors would be pretty.

How wonderful for them! DWR would be perfect but I also like the idea of the twisted bargello in rainbow colors. Either would look fabulous!

Right you are!! In kit form, those were all the rage around here at last year's quilt shows...and they're still selling out this year. And, for good reason...very pretty!

Here is a quilt my guild did for their annual raffle. A fabric kit is available from Star Designs.

Since their wedding isn't traditional, maybe their quilt wouldn't have to be a traditional DWR. Therefore you could make the center section of the quilt a DWR = the section being however large you want to make it, the finish with borders that are much easier and quicker to do. It will make the rainbow DWR standout much more than the over all pattern would, IMHO
