    What is the wick :?:[/quote]

the wick: take off cover plate, take out bobbin and bobbin holder, in the middle of the circle there is a small hole, with what might look like a light colored big piece of lint in there, don't pull it out with the tweezers, that is the wick. no more than 2 drops at a time.

on the 6600 the thread will jump off of the takeup arm quite frequently. The way I solved this is to thread the take up from left to right instead of right to left. That seems to help.

Mine too... And my sisters both have the same problem with theirs. But try talking to Janome reps about it... "Never heard of that before!"

Congratulations on your new machine! Ditto the suggestions already given. And, in case you're interested, there is also a yahoo group dedicated solely to the Janome 6500/6600 machines. The name of the group is Janome6500.

I agree that the free motion bobbin case will make a difference.

Thanks for all the good suggestions.I finally found the correct tension and was able to finish quilting my grandsons quilt. Now on to the binding. I have read about the bobbin case. Too bad you can't use the automatic thread cutter when you are using it. I sure love that thread cutter! I will definately get the bobbin case. I've never had a machine that didn't have a bobbin case. I was scratching my head, trying to figure out how to adjust the bobbin tension with no case.
You are all the greatest, to take time to help a fellow quilter. I'll post a picture of the quilt when it's finished.
The next quilt is a queen size for our son and ddil. I'll be ready to start quilting it as soon as I am sure the problem is solved. Picking out a mile of stitches is not on my list of fun things to do...haha

Ditter I think the cutter is the reason the thread drops from the take up arm. I can sew worry free for a long time not using the cutter. Than I use the cutter and the thread will drop. I might be wrong but that is my experience.

I have stopped using the thread cutter for the same reason. But sure did like the thread cutter but getting fustrated over it not sewing correct was not worth it.
