Just got a new Bernina!

Grandma I had the exact same thing happen with my Singer you and I probably bought the same machine, it was fine for straight sewing but anything that had seams on it, it would push all my fabric down the bobbin hole. They told me to change the needles, tried that it didn't work. Got told the same thing in my machine hospital that it's not meant for quilting.
Two weeks ago my darling hubby got me an early Christmas present and bought me the Bernina 550QE it came with all the feet, the BSR and the free motion capability.
Nice to know I'm not the only person that this happened to, I just woke him up when I yelled yes to your post! Told him I'm not the only one lol
The difference for the 2 machines is amazing.

Bernina is the way to go. My first Bernina is now 35 years old and going strong. Can do anything I ask of it and it has never needed repairs. When I retired a few years ago, I invested in the 440QE for ease more than anything else. LOVE both of them. The knee lift is a must. Its the third hand you always seem to need. Not sure if your peddle allows you to raise and lower your needle from there or not--if so --another great thing to get used to. Very handy.

Bernina has some great educational videos so you can familiarize yourself with its features and play around a bit. There are a bunch of them on The Quilt Show blog

You are not ever going to be disappointed in your Bernina. I have had mine for six years now and love the stitch I get with machine quilting. It is so worth the money for not gettting any headaches of mechanical problems. Congratulations!!!
