    LOL! and a good philosophy!

I subscribe to the Amish philosophy...and I make plenty of "intended" mistakes  so everyone will know I'm not up for God's job!

Also quote the galloping horse theory. This is my hobby, not my job! I do it to enjoy myself. I do the best I can and try not to add to my blood pressure numbers!

I went home wondering why I'm so hard on myself. Now maybe I can get more done faster and pretty sure I can do better than them! I guess I just expected better pieced quilts when hanging in a shop for all to see.

I purchased a quilting book, "200 Quilt Blocks to mix and match" and was very surprised to see blocks with seams warped, points that did not match etc. I am only hoping the blocks I make don't look the same! lol

I just made a quilt top- my bff picked out the pattern. I made it 2x before. Both times I remember not being happy. guess what- not happy. Figured out the pattern is not exactly accurate in giving directions. So I pulled out the pattern and wrote on it my 3 common problems and made stars by the step that create the error and re-calculated the cuts.

I still hope there isn't a 4th request for this pattern.

I teach all levels of quilters and I do not allow them to bring attention to every liitle mistake. You know you made it so what. Finished is beeter than perfect is my mantra...
    HA.
ps, if its going to be judged we work at correcting the boo-boos.

I am not in the least compulsive. I quilt for the joy of it. If my points and seams are off, only my dear dil notices and now she says boy u really enjoyed that one didnt u. lol. Most of my seams and points are good. But the joy and peacful feeling I get from my habit uh I mean hobby is so soothing.I take my problems to my Lord and after a session with Him, he tells me go quilt my darling child and I will take care of the problem. Ok so I am really weird but to me that is nice to hear. I always wonder who are these people and how can they make such perfect quilts all of the time.

I can relate to what you say. I am so lucky that a beautiful new quilt shop opened up right here in my little town. The owners are a wonderful mother/daughter team and the whole place is first class. As I spoke with the Owner (mom) and we browsed the store together, I asked how she managed to get all the shop samples made. There were loads of quilts, pillows, etc all ready for the grand opening. She explained to me that she had hired many local guild members and sewing friends to make all the sample quilts hanging in the shop. On closer inspection, I saw quilt backs with the white selvage edge of the fabric running right up the middle, severely mismatched points, and stitch in the ditch sewing that went everywhere but the ditch. Please don't think I am being critical about others, because I am not. The first thought that came to my mind is that I would never have accepted that from myself. It would definitely be ripped out or tossed if all else failed, but I could never have displayed it. I am always beating myself up for perfection!

this is where you tell everyone that the amish believe that only God is perfect and they put an "error" in every quilt... at least that's what i do!
