i love my speed control!
when i have it on fast it is fast- when i am working on something where i need to slow down i can adjust it to just right so if i get a little (heavy footed) i do not mess up and speed out of control.
it is also a wonderful feature when my granddaughter's come to visit-
for me it is a feature i look for and feel as important as needle down feature.

I have speed control on three of my machines and I love it. Even when it's at it's lowest setting it goes plenty fast. When I do piecing sometimes I like to go slower and it allows me to do so. With the mega quilter it's helps w/FMQ to be able to slow it down; I don't see a downside and I rarely ever use it at the top speed; especially my mega quilter
