Lost my Pfaff 1473 to Hurricane Sandy
#22
I'm so sorry about your machine. I have the 1471 and absolutely love that machine. I bought it in 1986 brand new and it is my go to machine. I just sewed binding on a quilt yesterday and it did such a good job, better than my newer Brother. I just hope it lasts a long time.

When I gave my Pfaff 1473 away to a dear friend who had been praying for a sewing machine, my husband got me the Pfaff 7570. It does everything and much more. It has the creative stitch ability, plus it also has the embroidery unit with it. We paid $1000 for it and I have never regretted the exchange. You would love the 7570.

Well the new foot on my brother dreamweaver sews through 6 layers of denim flawlessly, tried the other day just for fun, but the machine is a pretty penny, but don't think it would have a problem with canvas. Why isn't it covered through flood insurance, that doesn't seem right to me, they should cover all electronics lost. machines are very expensive and that's why we have insurance. I hope you get a good replacement soon. It must be hard to start fresh in those situations. Just know all of the board members here are wishing the best for you

It may be, but as Personal, it's depreciated, and I can't imagine getting much for a 30 year old sewing machine, no matter what shape it was in at the time. And I'm expecting to run up to my coverage limit with the furniture, electronics, etc that's not covered as "Building". My entire first floor will have to be gutted, so there's plenty to spend money on. ;o(

I am so sorry you lost your machine, but I am happy that you and your family are ok. I always figure the items here in this house are replaceable, but my family and pets are not. I hope you find a replacement soon. Maybe you will have a bit of money left over after replacing everything else that you could buy a nice new machine.

I'm so sorry you lost your "baby". Darn it! When we get used to the bells and whistles it's hard to start over. I have a Pfaff that is about 10 years old and I always tell the dealer I will sew anything I can get under the foot (no joke!) so they know I don't want a pantywaist machine. Mine has served me well, but the last year has had to have a couple of repairs and it's getting expensive, so I'm kind of in the same delimma, do I buy another used one hoping that whoever had it didn't use it as much as I did, or just continue with my Babylock sewing/embroidery machine and learn all the new stuff. I hope whatever you do works well for you!

I agree with what totomoms said...I will buy small things that don't cost too much at the bay as I have heard all the stories. I think that is good advice to go to the sm shops. And maybe hearing your story they may reduce the price some.
I would like to know who started naming storms after people. My name is Sandy. I used to like my name. Now not so much. It hurts so much to hear like ..Sandy stole my machine...Sandy has made XXXXXX homeless and Sandy has killed XXXX many so far.
I am so sorry that you lost your machine and so sorry for all the people there. I too wish I had the money to buy you a new one. I pray you find one ....hang in there....one will come along just right for you.
