Thanks, Cindy.

I think it will turn up, but not any time soon. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward. I have an applique top that I've been working on, and it makes me happy when I see it. And I already have Kaaterskill's sibling planned. When I get the applique top done, I'll start hand piecing the next one.

May I make a suggestion? I used to work at a quilt shop and the UPS driver would drop off bolts of fabric inside our back door and scan the bar codes. But occasionally he would leave a bolt addressed to another shop (because it looked like our stuff) and sometimes missed a scan. If you could find out the stops your driver made the day your item disappeared, it may have been left at one of those locations. They may think it's just an error in their favor and not realize it was a handmade treasure. If you check the scans on your item number on the UPS tracking website, you can narrow down the day. The hardest part is getting any info from UPS, but it's worth a try. If you could narrow down the area, you could put an ad in the local paper.

Oh, this is just awful and I'm so sorry. I'm hoping for the safe return of your quilt - and quickly!

Thanks, Andrea. The whole thing makes no sense, but I can't let it get me down. When I look at what I had, instead of what I don't have, I really can't feel too bad after all. It's not the only quilt I'll ever make!

Gaijin, your suggestion makes perfect sense, except the driver did not scan the package when he/she picked it up, so there is no way to track it. UPS conducted a thorough investigation, searching trucks and warehouses for the quilt.

I would still try to run an ad in a Colorado area newspaper. It probably didn't travel too far, if no one scanned it.
Maybe the person who has your quilt will see it and realize it wasn't just a freebie from the "man." Or try to get a nationwide magazine (like People) to include your story and a picture of your quilt! It is beautiful, by the way! I will cross my fingers for you!

I think it's still in the UPS system. After a while, they auction off trailers full of lost and unclaimed items. I think it will surface then. I've reached the point where I can't worry anymore. What will be, will be.

Janet, thank you for the update. I have to admit, however, that I was hoping for much better news. I pray that someday your beautiful quilt will be found and can be returned home to you. ;-)
