I don't have a sister, just sister in laws. None of them sew or quilt. My daughter doesn't either, for which I think I'm thankful. She's not only a perfectionist, but with her there are no grey lines. Everything must be done a certain way and that's it period. I'd hate for her to be my quilt police, it would be a disaster!

The good news for you is that your sister is now interested in quilting. With time, perhaps she will mellow.

I feel your pain, but it gets better. One of my sisters was that way. She was constantly telling me what and how I should put my quilt together. And informed me that I don't need to press every seam. She was the one who got me started. Now 3 out of four of us quilt. So patience is truly a virtue. Give her time she is a babe in the making. lol Enjoy her while you can, and she will learn.

Well good grief. Who's putting this into her head is the question I'm asking.

I've always believed that you should take classes from a bunch of different teachers(or books or online videos or whatever way you prefer to learn)to see different ways of doing things and then pick out the techniques you feel most comfortable with. There's at least three approaches to almost every part of quilting, from threading the first needle to doing the binding.
