I joined a few yrs ago for $7 and opted out by keeping track of my yr. I didn't find anything worth while to sign up again never mind pay full price. This yr they have sent me several requests when I signed up again just for the free side. they were down as low at 3.90 for a yr sign up...Nope not even at that low rate was I signing up again. In fact, got so annoyed with offers on a daily basis I unsubscribed to the free side.

The problem I've had in the past with subscription services like that is you forget to cancel or they have special conditions like you have to cancel over the phone, but no one ever answers the phone. Then, too, when it goes to a credit card, it's 6 weeks later when your statement comes before you know the renewal time has passed. Sometimes, you can still get a partial refund, but it's a real hassle.

If you can use paypal to pay, you can get the auto charge reversed. They let you know someone has auto charged your account and you can get an immediate reversal. Also, Paypal will let you know that an auto-renewal is included when it's not always apparent when you sign up.

It's been a while since I've been involved in a situation like that, so things might have changed.

I signed up once for a low price. I never found anything worth looking at. The auto-subscribe took the price to something crazy like $120 for a year! I called to cancel and was offered a better price, but I really never found any information that I couldn't easily find on the web for free. I can't recommend it.

I get very leery when any company or organization is asking me to join them multiple times a day. Why are they so desperate for members? The over requests to take advantage of their "good deal" makes me gun shy. I have avoided National Quilters Circle for just that reason.

I once ordered printer cartridges online and before checking out a screen came up that said to the effect: Sign up for 25% coupon on your next order. Of course I did, but the fine print signed me up (on my credit card) for some restaurant membership at $25 a month. I didn't catch it for months. Ugg.
Be careful.

I make it a policy to never buy or sign up for anything that has an automatic renewal. Have too many other things to remember. Also found that magazines don't necessarily charge you the lowest available price when they renew you.

I haven't joined because it didn't look appealing to me.
It really turns me off when they send me notices- way too gimmicky.

I had a real issue with them a couple years ago. It was an unpleasant experience and I would never do business with them again.
