need assistance/opinons please on how to proceed
Hi Ladies,
I am making this couch throw for my DIL who loves cats. I got this far, now I am stumped as to what to continue with around the cats so it is not too busy or takes away from the focal point of the cats. What would you suggest? I have thought of flying geese around the current black border....OR would you add another solid color border and then flying geese or some other pattern...4" blocks of various colors, etc. ?
Thank you in advance....I can always count on you gals here

I like your idea of keeping the kitties the focal point in this quilt. The fabric you have as sashing looks nice. Do you have any fabric that is like the dark teal (lower left kitties)? You might something with that color.
Then add a wide border around the whole quilt using the current sashing fabric.
Cute kitties!

I love your idea of flying geese. Depending on how large you want it. Using the same border as you show with a border of flying geese and maybe even a second border of just the fabric will make a nice large quilt for you DIL.

I would find a cat themed block, like cat's cradle http://zarkadia.com/2015/01/cats-cradle/
If it's too much to do for a full border, do a plain border with this in the corners

I would do paw print blocks as an additional border.
Here is a link to a blog that gives directions for a simple pieced one. There is an annoying banner along the bottom of the page to subscribe but you can view the pattern without subscribing:

And here is one to a more elaborate paper pieced block from paper panache.

If done in subtle colors it won't detract.
Another option is to put a solid color border and quilt paw prints like I did in this quilt: https://www.quiltingboard.com/pictures-f5/puss-center-exercise-fmq-t54829.html

Just my opinion, but I cannot picture the flying geese, as they may be too angular in contrast with the gentle pictures of the cats. Perhaps the idea of a paw print border as mentioned above, would be good. Are those panels that you found or did you print pictures? They are adorable!
