    Churn Dash? or center of a Balkan Puzzle block or Whirlpool block? I agree with Jan, you are missing the 8 lines to divide this up into 16 squares. I prefer handling HST's and squares vs. triangles. You could also do the rectangle with the square sewn on at the angle, press, and trim off at 1/4".

    I'd was going to suggest Half Square Triangles, but Jan in VA already did AND provided the graph for you.

    Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilting has a tutorial on the churn dash block. She keeps it simple when she does tutorials.

    I agree with Jan - but I would make it even simpler. I would do the HSTs in the corner and on the
    rectangles do one triangular corner. Although I do "Y" seams - they are n ot a favorite. Here is the EQ block redrawn as I would do it
