Default Need opinions!!!

am i crazy for using a homespun(or at least thats what i think it is) fabric in a paper pieced block?? have only used this type of material in rag quilts so i was wondering if its ok to use this in a paper pieced block in a regular quilt.

what worries me is the stretch in that kind of fabric...and later on when its time to send off to the LAQ(i think i have decided this is the route im going) will it be hard to actually quilt...as you can tell, im a beginner with this kind of stuff

I would stablize the give or stretch with some starch prior to any cutting. The smaller stitch lenght used for paper peicing will help in the strenght of the seams.. I am a bit concerned about the raveling from using a loose weave fabric , I would opt for more dense quilting or if quilting on a regular machine quilting that is on the homespun rather than the denser weave fabric. WhenI have sewn/pieced homespuns I used a larger seam allowance, so maybe not trim as close , and that would resolve the issues. .. but I would still starch prior.
FYI - its looks beautiful so far.

The block is pretty, can't answer any of your questions as I've not sew on homespun at all.

I see no reason you can't use it. This is a lovely block. Thanks for sharing.

well, the worry is, with the homespun fabric being more loosely woven and stretchier than the other, that might pose a problem when it comes time to remove the paper foundation and add the borders and quilting.
