I have the short stubby screwdriver from Clotilde's catalog--like it best because its easier to hold than the z shaped one which I also have. Coins and washers don't work well for me because of arthritis in fingers and can't grip very well at times. Think I paid $3.00 for mine--well worth it. Only about 1 1/2 inches high and works perfectly on my Brother and Pfaff.

Thanks everyone. I have tried the stubbies and they are too big. The screw driver I had in mind is very much like the one that snipforfun posted. I will try that one and hope for the best. Happy holidays all!!!!

For those that don't like the Z-style ones ....... someone posted a pic of some that had a traditional handle on them with the steel going straight out and then an "L" with the point on the end.
Where to get them? I have no clue, but I'd sure like a set.

I use a mini racheting type as I have very little strength in my hand. Like this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A2ZSTDEXO9VTZF

I also swear by the coin: I use a 5 Cent piece which is about the size of your dime (Euros here, just incase someone of thid region needs the info). It fits all small screws in the machine such as changing needles and pressure feet etc.

I had some Canadian change left over from a trip and I keep the coins in my sewing box. Great for those screws. Sometimes even the stubby ones are to tall to get the needle plate screws out.

My BabyLock came with a flat piece about the size of a nickel with a short flat piece for the driver part. I saw someone using one and thought it was neat. Happened to be looking in my attachment box and I had one and didn't even know it. Very useful
