New rules for a sloppy quilter

I just finished a quilt today and cleaned the studio to get ready for the next project. I always put the tools away when I finish a project, but may have them out near the machine during the work. The project I am working on now is curtaiins for the kitchen. I used my rotary cutter, ruler, and mat to cut the fabric, so I have those handy for now. Once the fabric is cut (a few more pieces tomorrow), I'll put the cutter and rulers away for a while.
In other words, I have things out and handy during work sessions, but always put them away at the end - maybe on a fabric scrap near the machine if I'll need them the next day, or in the drawer where they have a permanent place between projects. I try to always leave fabric folded neatly, too. I'd rather have things tidy and ready to use immediately when I walk into the room to work.
Now, don't ask me about the floor - I don't worry so much about it until I sweep or vacuum at the end of a project. I guess that's my next "area for improvement", eh?

I thought you meant sloppy quilt making, sorry no gold star for being organized, makes the rest of us who are not methodical feel as tho we should go stand in the corner!
New rules for poorly made quilts and all that....was my take. Of course I spend more time talking to my seam ripper than I do my friends!
Good on you!

More power to those of you that can organize your stations and stay organized. My station is organized for a bit and then I walk away from it for a while (read days at a time) so I reorganize to start once again...a repeating cycle that I'm determined to stop from happening once I get into MY OWN SEWING ROOM !

Sounds like a good idea, but I don't think I could stick with it. I'm always leaving rulers, cutters, etc. in project boxes and then when I need it for something else I have no idea where it is.

I too was not organized until my DD gave me a desk organizer. It has 4 slots, rotates and holds sissors, ripper, cutter and all manner of things...wonderful, now I know where to find my supplies...bless her heart.
