Welcome to the world of Quilting Board. We do have lots of fun here...reading and sharing...but when we survive a not so good day in our sewing area such as you had...we know we are a true quilter. That is why they invented 'seam rippers, scissors, etc...to help us survive. Just don't give up...we must go on. Too much fabric stash to ignore, and some how, the stash 'seams' to grow larger. Guess we, by mistake, grab the shampoo for volume and body, rather than the fabric wash/rinse.

Hapy seams to you until we meet again.

About that notch in the spool--get out your emery board and file it down or off. Gets rid of the stress and notch.
Welcome to quilting--you will have more good days than bad.

Just laugh the day off--my motto is that if I can't laugh at it, it's not worth doing. Now about that notch--when I put the spool on my machine I put the notch on the bottom of the thread stem or to the back--and as the thread feeds from the top or front of the spool, I never have a problem with it sticking in the notch!

Welcome from Oregon! Yep had days like that, seems like none of the electrical things want to work. I just keep some hand stiching project in reserve for when the machines rebel.

I'm a newbie quilter and I have those kinds of days! A dark chocolate/mint bar is my perfect answer. ;)
