I have one main project but with several others so that I can move back and forth without getting tired of the main one if this makes sense. I do scenic or old houses or barns which are very time consumming and intricate so have to have some easy ones going too. lol. Also will take time off when in the cutting mood. I have about five or six quilts cut out and in project bags with the patterns and extra fabrics in it so wont accidently use it in something else.lol

I always have several projects going at one time not only with quilting but with knitting and crocheting also.....
I seem to go from one project to another - and have too many ideas in my head just wanting to get out.... like thismomquilts posted too many projects so little time. Most of the time cleaning, cooking and life get in the way of the fun things..... lol

I used to do one at a time. Now I have lots of them going at once. There is always a project in the wings too.

I'm with Judy here. I have to many projects going. I also have a pile of things I want to get started. I'm trying to get done what I have going before continueing on but some of things I have going I have to put away to start Christmas presents.
Have you got enough scraps to do a scrappy tablerunner?
Fall is here so how about making a tablerunner with appliqued leaves.

I usually have several I'm working on. From fabric just sitting here waiting for me, one quilt cut and ready to sew, one in process of sewing and one to be quilting. Let's change that to two or three of each. This way if I don't feel like actually quilting, I can piece together, design, do what I feel like doing at that particular moment. Then I have about 300 quilts in my head I want to do. So my brain is always on over-ride just thinking about all the things I have to do and want to do.

I'm usually a one and done. I don't like things looking at me saying "I'm over here finish me". Although I have MANY, MANY things waiting in the wings.

I always have more than project going. Usually different types of projects. I also have way more lined up to do than I have years to live.

I have 3 children at home aged 6-9, all boys, and they all keep me very busy. Until recently, I worked outside of the home at least 40 hours a week and with me, I can only have 2 projects going at once. I have a sewing closet, not a room, and therefore, no where by grocery sacks and pizza boxes to put my WIPs in.

I keep a running list of the projects I want to do on some paper. I also have a electronic one here on the board for the year, so I can keep track of it. I plan and plan. I have one in the hand quilting stage, then one in the piecing stage so I can keep them separate.

When I'm close to finishing the pieced one, I plan the next one. I don't start on it until I've finished the one currently quilting. The only exception to this is when I make smaller baby quilts that can be tied instead of quilted. I'll make 2 at a time, get them pieced and sandwiched, then tied and bound. All can be done in a single weekend.

Since I don't have the room to store UFO's, I refuse to have any. If I want to start something new bad enough, I know to finish what I already have going.

I also alternate large projects with small ones. I make 1 or 2 large quilts a year, then toss many a smaller project in between. I like the feeling of accomplishment that comes when something is finally finished.
