No Goodwill Fabric Here :-(
#21
Goodwill bought out a Rooms to Go a mile from my house. I checked them out one time and the prices were a shock. It seems everything within 50 miles of Mickey in Orlando is priced for the tourists. i haven't gone back.

I was told the reason goodwill prices r so high is because they r only obligated to give 17percent rest is profit for them. Out thrift store owner told me that it is a church store for the poor. They to do have very little fabric and very dirty!

As an ex-Marylander (Olney/Rockville), I appreciate the Beltway humor!!!
Do you have a Goodwill Outlet Center near you? They sell the stuff at $1.10 a pound. It is the stuff that does not sell, all in huge bins, all mixed up but sometimes I can find duvet covers, large men's shirts or dresses. Now I use them for recycled grocery totes but you never know...Now I will qualify this by saying sometimes there are some very creepy people in there and it has a "unique" smell. Anything I get goes directly into the washing machine. But a duvet cover for 2 bucks?

I used to find some great fabric there but lately, the last year, there has been nothing usable. A lot of real junk  . And their prices have really gotten higher. I guess you have to go every day and just know when it's going to be put out to get lucky. It's a 50 mile RT for me to the closest one and with the price of gas these days, it's not feasible. Not that I really need more fabric   . But it's still the thrill of the hunt!!
