I found a way to be sure that peddle is always where I want it. I put a four foot piece of 1 X 3 under the machine. I secure the pedal to that with a heavy duty rubber band. I can hold my feet on each side of the pedal and stick and can always tell where it is to lift my foot to the top of it.

I just recently pulled my old Elna from the closet and the foot pedal is driving me crazy! I tried using a chunk of an old yoga mat, but it's not grippy enough, it just moved to the nap of the carpet. Love the rug grippy idea. I think my husband has some carpet tape. I'm going to try it!

Wish I'd seen this a long time ago. Where did you buy it? I ended up buying a rubber backed cheap floor mat. Cut it and did swipe of Spray Baste. It sticks to the floor too. I put some little round velcro sticky's on my pedal and that sucker does NOT move. I do have to clean the spray off the floor though. But it comes right up with a spray of vinegar.

For using on a rug, use the stiff side of hook and loop tape glued to the bottom of the foot pedal, or for use on vinyl, I would buy the stuff they sell at craft stores to paint the bottom of home made rugs, and paint it on the bottom of the foot pedal.
