I also highly recommend the Slidelock rulers.
I use the SlideLock ruler too but I keep it on top of my ruler. It's the best safety insurance I can have for no rotary accidents. Worth every penny and then some to me.

Doesn't the Nexcare leave a sticky residue?
The Nexcare tape is see through so there is no need to take it off the ruler. I never have so don't know if it leaves a residue or not. I have some rulers the tape has been on the back for several years. No loose ends poking up and still see through. The tape is made for skin so I don't think it will hurt my rulers.

I've had Invisigrip on my rulers for 14+ years, has worked well for me. I have it on my 6" X 24" and my 12 1/2" square. Smaller rulers I don't seem to need it for and my larger squares I tend to brace against the wall so they don't slip.

I use a thin coat of old fashion Rubber Cement on the few rulers that are super slippery (most of those rulers are my long arm rulers). I apply it and let it sit for a while, it dries clear, it is super non-slide and when it looks nasty with threads, rubs off cleanly for a fresh coat. The only problem is that I used to be able to purchase anywhere but the last time all I could find were small containers in local store and ended up purchasing off of Amazon,

Sticky backed small sandpaper circles or squares is what I prefer.

I use the Slidelock rulers too, have both sizes. It has sure helped when cutting long strips and avoiding the dreaded "V" cut.

I don't know what its called but I bought a ruler last year at a retreat and it had a treatment on it. You can also use the rubber cement glue and put dots on it and that helps hold them in place.

I've purchased the clear rubber dots and place them on the 4 corners of my rulers. No slippage at all. Pick them up at hardware stores; JoAnns; other places.

I use the Grip Strips too! Work great, and you can re-position them, if necessary.

Translucent skateboard tape is another option... http://imapiecemaker.com/studio-orga...on/rulers.html
