Default Opinions needed about sashing width 2.75”

Found a UFO and now will finish it. Each block is 7.5” scrappy.
Pattern says cut sashing 2.75” and that surprises me, I anticipated narrower since the blocks are smaller size. (There are corner blocks too)
Do you think it will look out of proportion? Would you follow the pattern or use a smaller sashing ?

That does sound like it's too wide, since it's close to half the size of the blocks. Your quilt, your choice on sashing. But remember, the finished size will be reduced if you reduce the size of all the sashings. You could always make more blocks and sashings to make up the difference.

If you cut it 2.75 inches wide, remember that after seam allowances, it will finish at 2 1/4 inches wide. I think it will look fine.

What is the name of the pattern, please? I am a visual person and would really like to see what you are talking about.

if you use the golden ratio for proportion a better size would be 1 3/4 or 1 inch finished . So cut 2 1/4 or 1 1/2. why not just lay your blocks on the fabric and see what size sashing appeals to you visually?
