My vote is for no sashing.

Crazy quilts remind me of my grandmother. She made her blocks about 12" square, sewing the pieces of fabric by hand onto a foundation made from an old sheet. She used black feather stitch embroidery between the pieces. She sewed the blocks together by machine, then put the black feather stitch over the seams. Always quilted them in straight lines about 2" apart (by hand). My mother wouldn't let us sit on her bed when she used her crazy quilt that grandma made. Even so, the embroidery wore out long before the quilt did.

It takes a real talent to put together the crazy patch block! Not everyone can do it. You did great!

It seems everyone is going with black, but i'm seeing a royal purple for some reason. To me the colors are too light for black. It will be beautiful no matter which way.

I love crazy quilts. Traditionally they do not have sashing in them. It is your quilt, so it is your choice. Not having the sashing keeps that crazy look going, less organized.

I like your blocks so now embellish, embellish, embellish! embroidery, decorative stitches, beading have fun! You are further ahead of me on that project since all I have done is collect fabric.
