I didn't save the pattern I know it's copyrighted but I know I can make a pattern from any quilt block picture. It's almost scary.

I agree that the price of quilt books is too high and I rarely buy them anymore.
But I bought alot when I was learning to quilt.
Now if I want to buy any kind of book I go to http://www.cheapestbookprice.com first and see what it's price is used. Sometimes I will buy a used book.
They also have a website for buying used cd's and dvd's.

Our county library has it to where we can check book out on line and they will send it to any library in the county. Might try and see if yours offers something like that. I found out that from one of the teachers at school. She knows how much my kids like to read. I KNOW WE spend well over $500 a year on books for them. Not complaining at all about it.

I buy the book(s)so I can look through them over and over and over again. Even if I don't plan to make all the quilts they are so beautiful to look at. I get a very small retirement check from a place I worked years ago and consider that my book and magazine money. Since it is already set aside for that and since I don't spend it for that all the time, it doesn't seem frivolous to buy something I enjoy reading just for pleasure.

What gets my goat is when you buy a book by a famous designer only to find about two patterns in there by them and the other
ten or so designs are by other people.

I bought a book of table runners- first one I choose- error in cutting. told my lqs so they put a sticky in the other books with the correction.

That burns my bippy. (But I still love the book- just calculate to be sure they got the #s right now)

I love books, and have found that as the years go by , patterns I didn't used to be drawn to, I now like. Also I love to sit down with a stack, and spend time looking. Maybe I will like just one thing about a pattern, and it will give me an idea for something else. Also, I have picked up some used books on Amazon, they are always in new condition when they come. I just feel like they are a good investment for me,, or at least that is what I tell myself LOL
