I will be beside myself if I am able to produce even one of these

Apparently a snowflake is hexagonal, so we will be working with six wedge shapes. Within each wedge there are a shocking number of tiny pieces going every which way - I think I would probably be able to get them all sewn to each other, eventually, but what daunts me is how to get the desired fabric patterns to emerge from all the pieces.

Being basically lazy, any more snowflakes I do will be like those in my avatar--------cut out and bonded.

Oh, my goodness. Those are the most realistic snowflakes I've ever seen in fabric! All my best wishes go out to all you brave souls who are going to attempt to make these. I think I'll just ooh & aah when you post your pictures.

Thank you for the invite, but after checking it all out, I have decided to stay just where I am, perfectly happy with Churn Dash, Log Cabin, and the rest. This is so way beyond me. My hope is that I can someday I can do a Mariner's Star.

Good luck to all of you. Maybe someday those gonads will kick in and I will try it!!!!!! Edie

OMG I don't think I have ever seen those. They are so beautiful. I already have too many projects or I would love to join you. I love doing things out of the box like this. I look forward to seeing your progress on this and to hear your comments on the progress. Another project for my lengthy bucket list.

One Christmas many moons ago when still living in VA, I gave my daughter (and I, lol) a class at G Street fabrics with her and these Snowflakes. The real problem is having "multiple" fabrics from which to aid in your snowflake design with similar coloring or one piece with large repeats. She had an entire line of fabric for this in indigo, grays and whites. The trick is to trace designs on your template material then cut out that exact design and add it to your flake.

I may have to resurrect this project if I can dig it out. This may give me incentive to complete it!! Also when I do, I will try to post a pic of what I accomplished in the two day class.

I wish I dared, but no can do! Lefthandedness and dyslexia prevent me from doing some things and this is definitely one of them.
