27" for the body is fine if the pattern is non-directional, like the deep blue snowman and reindeer pillowcase.

But if there is a directional picture and you want the picture to run the length of the pillowcase, like the light blue snowman/reindeer pillowcase or the birthday pillowcase, you'll need to sew the cuff to the selvage edge. You'll need 45" of fabric (instead of 27").

There will be fabric left over along the other selvage.

I'd measure the pillows for the cases. I absolutely HATE the cases that come with sheet sets, they are so skimpy even with the more expensive brands. I hate the way I have to force them together to shove them into the case when the bed has to be remade.
I make mine about 3 inches wider and 4 longer than the ones I buy. When I have to change the bed, I don't wind up mad at everything now.
Each time I buy a set for the bed, I buy an extra bottom sheet just for this, and use the extras for quilting.

Check out the Missouri star quilts website. The tutorial is so easy. And, they turn out so neat!!!

I make my pillowcases using a serger, sometimes use lace instead of the 1" band.

I have probably made a dozen sets of those so far. I even make them for our Kingsize bed by adding length to them. I made some for us using flannel. I use my serger. Nice and warm for this time of year.

I sold several pair of my kiddie's pillow cases at our local Church Craft Sale for $20 a pair, and they sold well. Nice Christmas present.

Oatw13, Thanx sew much for this info. I had lost my directions, and have been wanting these measurements really bad. Another angel on the board.
