Well, it sounds like it is about the same everywhere. I have noticed that Hancocks fabric is priced between 4.99 and 9.99. They run it on sale a LOT. When it is 50% off it is about what it is really worth. Their better fabrics rarely go on sale. I still try to wait until Hancocks or Joannes has a sale, but the LQS fabrics are SO much nicer. but average about $9.50/yd.

Around 7.00 to 9.00 a yard at the LQS. There is an outlet called Fabric and Craft World here in town that runs fabrics at 4.00 to 5.50 a yard. They are close-outs or from 2 seasons ago but it is all 100% cottons from known makers.

The question a lot of shop owners have is will the prices go down after the industry recovers from this cotton "shortage" (mostly due to bad climate). So she's holding off buying for a few months to see how it plays out.
$11.50 - Yikes!
