I don't have one and have no idea how you would use it in log cabin making or anything. I make log cabins all the time. Is there a tute to show how this skinny thing works? Now I am curious.

Where are you located? I have an extra one if you are interested. I could ship it to you fairly cheaply.

I think what u have will be fine..I teach..she probably just means a ruler that shows a definent 1/4" marking as a guide for u to learn the technique she's teaching ! The one showed is a great thing to have for PP and I use mine all the time !

I have the 12" one, it is yellow. It is used for paper piecing, when you fold the line you just sewed back you but the add a quarter edge up with the fold of the paper and cut with your rotary cutter, hope this makes sensethe lip is raised so it buts up against the paper nicely, If I knew how to do pics I'd do a tute for you

I had a pair, long and short. From Fons and Porter. It is actually, 1/2" wide with a line down the middle for 1/4". Great for checking width of seams. Got at local Joann.

I bought a 12" add-a quarter ruler for paper piecing and love it. but before getting this ruler I just cut my seam allowances by using the 1/4" mark on my Omnigrid ruler. the add-a-quarter ruler was around $7.00 on Overstock.com. only took about 4 days for it to arrive. definitely check this ruler out.

I also have a die for this....crazy thing looks like a little brass washer with a small hole in the center. You place it on the perimeter of your pattern that you need to add a quarter inch to and then put the tip of your pencil in the hole and guide it around the sides of your pattern and it adds the 1/4", good for cicles and such.

 I have both rulers and I really love them. For when you have a pattern that doesn't have the fourth inch added I have a small round 1/4 metal circle that has a whole in it. You just put your pencil in the whole and go around the pattern. Works good. BrendaK
