It's used for paper piecing comes in two sizes a great tool.If you don't plan to buy both sizes I would get the 12" add a quarter ruler.

I have one but discovered that my pencil is also 1/4". I use both.

I got one for a pp class but think I could have done just as well with a small ruler that marked the 1/4 inch...this one has a lip that makes it perhaps a little faster. I wish I had saved my $10.

I have one, hardly use it, prefer the regular ruler

I suggest that you buy one, I find mine to be essential to ease the process and insure accuracy in paper piecing.
