Use it all the time. Beats stressing my old eyes.

Sharoni 10-29-2011 07:04 AM

Thank you for bringing up this subject! Sometimes mine works, sometimes it doesn't. I was extremely comforted by the fact that others too have the problems I do with mine. I am sure it is operator error now. I will However check all the little things to make sure they are not bent, then I will follow the process already stated so clearly and practice practice practice. Thanks again!

Somerset Val 10-29-2011 07:09 AM

I also use mine all the time!

Morag 10-29-2011 07:09 AM

I have a Janome MC6500P and have never been able to master that darn threader! So, I always thread by hand...to frustrating to try..try..try..with no success!!

sewnuts321 10-29-2011 07:13 AM

I have a Brother sewing machine and Janome embroidery and Love/LOVE the auto-threader on both.
Check to see if the little hook that goes through the needle eye to grab the thread is actually going through the eye. (Mine has occasionally gotten bent so is out of alignment and then doesn't work. In that situation I just gently slide my thumb nail next to the hook and re-align it.)

A1penny 10-29-2011 07:14 AM

I use mine on the Bernina all the time. The one on my Elna is very good. I have a small Janome 3160 QDC, I love the machine's sewing, BUT the automatic threader is a pain, it doesn't work well, and this past week it actually fell off the machine! I put it back, but am thinking of just ditching it.
The size of the machine needle hole is also important. Hard to work with a tiny hole!!
I want a machine that REALLY automatically threads the machine....and then automatically sews my piecing,...and....and ............aha......what a dreamer!

mshawii 10-29-2011 07:17 AM

You probably have bent the little thing a ma jig inside the treader. I have done that twice now on my new machine. The old one still works good. I can still see the hole in the needle so I do it that way on the new machine. Jan

Deborah12687 10-29-2011 07:19 AM

My new Singer Simple has that auto needle threader and it really does not work that well. I have not gotton it to work only 1 time out of ten. It is just faster to thread it my self.

mucky 10-29-2011 07:24 AM

I use mine all the time but there no doubt is some small thing you are doing wrong.

dinlauren 10-29-2011 07:33 AM

I have one and lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeee it. I had to have someone show me how to do it and then it was like magic...can't live without it now. Just wait till you get the hang of it and you will love it too.

mariehughey 10-29-2011 07:43 AM

I would not have been sewing all summer without it. There is a trick with the needle position that for me was worth figuring out. My eyes just don't see up close anymore.

Nanaquilts44 10-29-2011 07:44 AM

I use mine all the time but sometimes it takes a couple of tries.

OHSue 10-29-2011 07:46 AM

I do find it quicker just to thread the needle without it, but sometimes I do use it. I can forsee a time when I will have to use it all the time, so I am glad it's there.

carolaug 10-29-2011 07:49 AM

Thank-you, Thank-you!!! Love you guys!!!! I pressed the needle up/down button and that worked!!!! Million Thank here!!! I am sooooo Happy!!

Oh so simple ... and after nine pages and umpteen suggestions!!

suzm 10-29-2011 07:56 AM

My threader doesn't work either, I just thread by hand. Also have a white business card tht I hold behind the needle so I can see where to thread the darn thing.

Barbara Ogden 10-29-2011 07:56 AM

Connie, you may want to use a magnifyer when doing so. The tiny hook that is part of you threader most likely is not going through the hole of your needle. That hook is what pulls the thread through the hole. Hope that helps. Barb

I love mine and use it all the time. I do have the Brother Innovis 4000 so is an expensive machine but I do not have any trouble with mine working and I would never have a machine without it anymore. It is an awesome feature.

Grannyh67 10-29-2011 08:04 AM

Maybe you need to have it lined up, I did mine. If it isn't lining up with the eye it will never work. I use mine all the time.

SewExtremeSeams 10-29-2011 08:12 AM

A few years ago I bought a used Bernina Artista Embroidery machine off of craigslist. I already had a relationship with the owners of the Bernina shop the owner of the machine had originally purchased it from.

Anyway, my auto needle threader gave me fits until the shop owner adjusted it. I use it ALL the time. It has spoiled me for when I use my vintage machines. I love it. Hopefully, yours just needs an adjustment or maybe a replacement. But, they are worth it. :-D

Barbara Ogden 10-29-2011 08:48 AM

I also have a Brother Quattro and it offers the best threader in my opinion. It works every time and I love the threader, I even love that machine.

snicktrain 10-29-2011 08:49 AM

The one on my Brother Emb. machine works great. The one on my Brother sewing machine does not. I think it's missing the little hook that goes thru the needle. :?

jean knapp 10-29-2011 08:49 AM

I use mine all the time. My daughter has a Janome and hers didnt work so we took it to the shop and he just re bended the little thing that pulls the thread. I tried to do it but couldnt

feffertim 10-29-2011 08:49 AM

Can't get mine to work either. Usually end up doing it manually.

butterflies5518 10-29-2011 09:00 AM

I use mine on a Brother embroidery and it only works with am embroidery needle, all others have to do by hand.

dixiechunk 10-29-2011 09:05 AM

Have this on two of my machines and have never even tried it.

peacequiltingnana 10-29-2011 09:05 AM

I love mine - what once was a luxery has become a necessity - at least in my mind.

GypsyRse1 10-29-2011 09:09 AM

My eyes are so bad anymore that I wouldn't be able to sew without it.....

Quilterfay 10-29-2011 09:10 AM

I have it on 2 or 3 machines and I can't get the darn thing to work. So far I can thread it easier by hand.

sewingonquilts 10-29-2011 09:17 AM

I love mine!!!!

grandma sue 10-29-2011 09:28 AM

I use mine when the little wire isn't bent. I seem to have a knack for bending the wire on my Horizon and also my BL Imagine serger. Don't know what my problem is. I follow directions but I guess I just don't "hold my mouth right" as my mother used to say.

MadQuilter 10-29-2011 09:31 AM

My Baby Lock is a one butoon push threader and I LOVE it. Use it all the time. DH is fascinated with it. With mine, the foot has to be up as well as the needle. I always know when I have something set wrong coz she won't connect.

chickadeee55 10-29-2011 09:33 AM

I agree, practice makes perfect everytime.

5644tinker 10-29-2011 09:33 AM

You may need to have your thread adjusted. Talk to your machine repair person.

bpieces 10-29-2011 09:36 AM

I use it all the time, (on my Brother and Bernina) Took me a while to learn how to use them but can't do without them now.

Roberta 10-29-2011 09:44 AM

Mine has never worked on my Janome.

lyndaloo 10-29-2011 09:49 AM

Always use it!

wvdek 10-29-2011 09:54 AM

I have one on my Janome 6600 P and can never get it to work properly. Will try again with some hints I saw on here.
Otherwise, I have no trouble threading mine.

carolaug 10-29-2011 09:59 AM

I have a Jamone too...and now i know how to make it work...I did what one woman suggested...just press your up/down needle button then thread it. Work like a charm...so easy...LOL...I figured it was operator error....Me...

firebird 10-29-2011 10:14 AM

I use mine all the time on my Bernina. At first I was holding the thread to tight so as it threaded, I actually wouldn't let the thread go into the eye of the needle.
