I've never done a mystery quilt, but you are all sounding so excited I'm going to give it a try. Mysi I sent you a PM wasn't sure if you still needed to have it.

I am leaving on vacation in two days. I wont be back until the 30th. Hopefully I wont miss out on too much. i haven't had a chance to cut my fabrics either. Hopefully the first clue wont be too extensive so some of us slackers can play catch up (well at least this slacker:):)) Can't wait.

Here is my focus fabric for the mystery quilt - haven't had time to look for coordinates yet - after Christmas. This will be my 1st mystery quilt - hope I get the emails & can figure it out. I think I need the updated supplies & cutting list. Thanks.

GREAT fabric, Jan!
Sue (formerly of Livingston, MT) |
I am so excited. Like many of you, I am a first time mystery quilter (and somewhat a beginner to quilting, but I will trudge through). Anyways, I was at Wal-Mart to get some coordinating/background fabrics and the lady asked me what it was for. So I told her about the mystery quilt. I think I will have another one that will be hooked on quillter's board! She took the website and was really excited.
Can't wait for after christmas. I will post pics of the fabric as soon as it gets here (mail order). |
I've decided to try my 1st big quilt and do the Twin/Full instead of the Crib, or maybe I'll do both?

Since this is my first mystery quilt I have to tell you it was hard picking fabric and not knowing where they will go in the quilt. Now I will attempt to up load my first picture. Let me know what you think.
|
I forgot to say that the fabrics are in order from left to right

I really like your choices! |
thanks

Question: How do you ladies colour co-ordinate your fabrics so beautifully and so fast. I have a whole lot of fabric and I don't know what to do with it. I just love all you ladies' choices. Will post when I have figured how to from the cell.
Enjoy your day. I am off to do some baking for Christmas. Mainly Greek biscuits and Scottish shortbread. all simple to bake but oh so yummy and fattening!!!!!! :O) ciao ciao |

Use those to choose your colors since those are the ones that the fabric manufacturer used to make the fabric. :) Hope that helps!
Missy[/quote] Oh my goodness that sounds sooo easy. Thanks for the great help. So all I have to do is bring the fabric and the selvage with the colours and try and match all the other fabrics. Yeah that is great help. BTW I use the selvages to make pot holders, mug rags etc.... they are so much fun. Finished all the baking now I am off to sewing room and finish quilting Christmas stockings for my two grandaughters (they get a new stocking every year!!!) Bit late this year. So excited to start the mystery. The best part is that noone is going to chase me to finish in a hurry. thanks once again ciao ciao |
:)
