OK all. I think I am finally decided on which fabrics I am using with my focus fabric for this mystery, of course, there is still plenty of time to change my mind, LOL.

So, I am using the golden tan for background.
Red: Main color 1
Green: color 2
Dark brown: inner border
lavender: color 3
lighter brown: color 4
darker lavender: 2nd accent
purple/green batik: accent
And of course the vineyard for the focus.
What do you all think? They are mostly batiks here.
Missy, will this work   ???

Hurmm.. that red might over take the quilt m'friend.. Do you have a more 'muted' red? or something that will go with the darker lavender? Maybe it's the picture, but I don't think the red goes w/ the dk. lavender. Everything else is fine! The red you have may 'take over' the quilt and you'd loose all the other pretties.

Missy

candi 12-20-2010 06:11 PM

Hmmm..I sort of planned for the red to take over, LOL. And it actually does go with the darker lavender(well, in my eyes :XD: ). I don't have muted red, but there are 7 quilt shops near me

I want in on this. I thought there were just 6 fabrics. I have the butterflies for focus, the light purple for background and 5 more...I don't want those greens all clumped up on the wall hanging...help!

Maybe add a red a blue, a black? or you can change the greens and put different values of greens instead of the same value of green. Remember the second accent will work with Color 1, if that helps... :)

I would consider changing the florals and the orange.. Maybe change those to a yellow/gold, black, and a red. It also looks like the greens are the same value or the same fabric? :) You are doing a great job at getting the ideas. I do like the new focus fabric better than the original thought! It's cute! Keep me in posted in pictures we'll get it hammered out! I wish I was there to help you on a more personal level.

Thanks, Missy. How do ya'll get the quote to be in a diff. shade so it stands out separate from the answer?

I find it kinda hard to find colors when the project is a mystery. LOL I have 2 sets of colors. the darker set I was going to use for the applique blocks that we are doing the first of the year. But I can use it for this instead if I have to. The second is what I chose for this project. what do you all think. I am very very new to this. I have not made anything.

dutchie 12-21-2010 03:47 PM

I LIKE your new focus fabric!!!

Jenniky- My 12 year old daughter says - Your making a sexy hotrod quilt. Where did you find that focus print?
I would go with horses if I had the choice.

Missy - our LQS is having a sale after Christmas - I will post my picture then.

It's ok, we'll start after Christmas.. LOL Got too much to do! Heehe Directions etc.. :) OH! BTW!! http://mysimystery.wordpress.com/201.../we-are-alive/ I will post all my clues here.. so that they will be on one page.. YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD OPEN OFFICE I put a link there at the bottom of the blog. This way you all can see the slideshow! :) I did it that way so I could put BIG pictures up so everyone can see what's going on. If I did it the other way, with so many newer quilters they would be confused! Thanks! :)

OOHHH very nice.. One change that I would consider is the stripes.. Unless you don't mind which directions they go.. What place are you putting them in?

Missy

Sadiemae 12-21-2010 11:14 PM

You aren't going to be able to do pdfs?

mysikaanne 12-22-2010 12:44 AM

I could, but the pictures would be smaller than I'd want for new quilters to look at. This way they are practically the normal size. Now, I could just put them directly on the website? It's a thought...
I have a few days to think on that idea.. :)

Missy
PS... OMG It works! I CAN make a PDF of my slideshow!!! How awesome is that!! The pictures are big too! You couldn't print it out or you would use up all your ink! ROFLOL... thanks Sadie! I didn't know you could do PDF's w/ a slide! Learn something new! So yeah! I'll do it that way.. so no one has to download anything. I'll update my blog! Thanks!!
