I think everyone is doing whatever they want just trying to complete one item a mo. Then post a pic.

ritamae 01-01-2011 06:07 PM

I am so glad everyone thinks this is a good idea, we are from different parts of the country and we will all be doing the same thing for our communities. I also made lap quilts for senior citizens. I am now making quilts from the fabric I have left from making quilts all year. I don't usually sew on saturdays but i do a lot today. I have been sewing for years but only quilting for about 7 years and it is so rewarding. And it is so nice to share ideas with other quilters.

Karyn 01-02-2011 06:03 AM

OK, I started cutting our 2 1/2 inch squares from assorted Christmas fabrics. Will sew them all together, then cut our a circular tree skirt. I plan on backing it with muslin and a ruffled edge. This is my January project!

sewjean 01-02-2011 06:18 AM

I started a table runner Sat. but not w/Christmas fabric. I will put the items I make aside so I can see all of my progress! lol
If I had stayed focused I could have finished it but I will Monday.

the old one 01-02-2011 07:48 AM

If someone has the pattern or knows where to find it, for the Dresden Plate tree skirt, would that person please enter that information--we are taking down our tree, didn't realize how badly worn our tree skirt is. Thanks, the old one

I began a snowman wall hanging for my sister ..... This is fun & I can even work on things when we travel this winter! Yea!

katsewnsew 01-02-2011 08:33 AM

I too am in on this one. Finally moved into our home so all my "stuff" is unpacked now. Ready to sew!!!!! Lots of Christmas stash that needs to be used. I have also committed to 1 quilt top per month for Wounded Soldiers. No problem, retired, large stash and plenty of time. (but no money) This is gonna be fun! Anxious to see everybody's projects.

PiecesinMn 01-02-2011 01:16 PM

I'm working on a Snowman/Christmas tablerunner with placemats for my first project. I have the tablerunner and placemats made but not quilted. Ran out of calendar in 2010 so I'm starting with this.

PiecesinMn 01-02-2011 01:17 PM

This is what I'm doing

Going to start with making ornaments then go from there.

katsewnsew 01-02-2011 02:09 PM

I have a foundation pieced tablerunner pattern I promised my friend I would make for her about 5 years ago when she went with me to the quilt show in Paducah, Kentucky. I think it's time to git er done!!!! That will be my first project here.

BettyB 01-02-2011 05:36 PM

Is there going to be a special thread to post our pictures of completed projects. Sorry if this was posted already and I didnt catch it.

Pam B 01-02-2011 06:02 PM

Sounds like a terrific idea to me!

mysacrifice 01-02-2011 06:09 PM

I have SOO many un-finished Christmas crafts that I would love to get accomplished someday! Please count me in.

ritamae 01-02-2011 06:12 PM

The pieces of batting, I also use them to make picture quilts. I use a pillow form fabric and I sew around the pictures, like the fisherman in the boat and I use the small pieces of batting to pad the pictures. when I finsh with the pillow form, it is usually about 18 inches that is the center of my quilt and I make the quilt like a picture adding fabic as i go until I get the size I want.

Very pretty. Now I am motivated to at least make a list of the things I would like to do. I want to make stockings for the family (9) and I like the Christmas countdown wall hanging I saw on QB. I would like to do at least 2. That's 11 so I think I would like to do a snowman wall hanging for my best friend also. OK, now I got the list, just gotta get going

JONIE 01-03-2011 06:35 AM

PiecesinMn 01-03-2011 07:14 AM

I am starting it today and I will post pix when done. I am soooo motivated right now! Woo Hoo!!! This was a great idea!

grandme26 01-03-2011 02:49 PM

Picked up batting today to finish my only granddaughter's Christmas quilt that I did not get done for Christmas. She will get it late. I will get it done this month and mail it to her. I will also complete the block for this months $5 quilt club, and cut out the pieces for my 5 yr. old grandson's rockiet ship quilt.

I have looked for "Pictures" and cannot find it. Where exactly do I look? On the message board there are headings, but no "pictures". Help, because I have finished a Christmas tree.

Try going to Topic Log and then click on Christmas Project a Month for 2011 and you will end up back here. So I guess this is where we will post our pictures.

PiecesinMn 01-04-2011 02:54 PM

Go to Quilting Forum. There you will see Main, Pictures, Block of the Month etc. Click on Pictures and look for the Christmas Project a Month for 2011 thread. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for posting this. I'm not very savy with the computer (notice that picture of my stash is sideways) and this is much quicker than what I suggested. Thanks again.

Just posted a picture of the three cloth books I finished. Now if I can just remember where I put them come next Christmas.

Sure with these printed panels were printed the same size and squarely on the fabric. Really hard to square them up to the same size even when using the same marks to measure by.

PiecesinMn 01-06-2011 12:57 PM

They sure turned out cute. Better bookmark this page and in the notation put where you put the books so you can find them.

You can also go to the bottom of any topic page and there under the Reply Box you will find these sections:

Main | Pictures | BOM | Intro | GCC | Tutorials | Links | Offline | Classifieds | Swaps | Recipes | PDA | Topic Lists

click on the 2nd one: Pictures

quiltlin 01-08-2011 06:28 AM

I just click on the "search" topic and put in "Christmas Project 2011" and then both topics come up first and second on the list.

katsewnsew, I love your table runner. I like the pattern and the colors. Someone made a wreath using that pattern without the window sashes and I thought they were going to give a tutorial, but I don't remember seeing one. Thank you for sharing.

PiecesinMn 01-09-2011 03:33 PM

What a great pattern.

MISHNJIM 01-09-2011 04:52 PM

This is a GREAT idea. I still have some quilts and things I wanted to do in 2010 for Christmas...BUT....didn't get to it. I think I'm gonna join ya'll. I just hope that I don't forget where I put the finished projects...LOL

PiecesinMn 01-10-2011 08:34 AM

Welcome to our group. Hope to see pictures. When I get my projects done, I'm going to brag on this thread that they are done and say where I'm storing them and bookmarking it. So unless the computer goes to heck, I should be able to find them.

That's a really coooll wreath. Is there a tute for it? I'd be interested in doing that project with some of my Christmas fabrics.
